my turn to pose with mom in front of the treeWith a new year comes a new look. You may be thinking that changing colours isn't a new look, but it is. It worked for Michael Jackson (more or less) so it should work for me too. I'm not sure if it's a good look or not, but it is what it is, and I'll tough it out until next year. Besides black is supposed to be a cool colour. Johnny Cash is cool. I rest my case.

Anyway on with the shoe. Christmas was good to me, and I learned something over New Year's. I learned that fire is hot, and even though it's cool, it's not cool to set fire to the dinning room table (don't ask how I managed to do this). My wife, who has the soul of a firefighter and the grace of a dancer, gave me a few moments to be the hero before stepping in to save the day with a handy box of baking soda.

I would've put it out (eventually, either that or called 911) just as soon as it got big enough to warrant my manly intervention. My wife obviously mistook my dazed look for helplessness, rather than my "oh look fire" look (I've always had a thing for fire - fire good - ask my mom, she'll vouch for me). Just as the table cloth was starting to get going my wife pushed me aside and saved the day.

I'm not bitter. I'll have my day - summer's coming and when it does I get to play with the barbecue again. My eyebrows have grown back quite nicely from my backyard party last July.
