I
Am Legend by Richard Matheson
What
a great book, the best book I read all year in fact. This is a vampire
story that has more twists than a Chubby Checker record. If you can
find this baby you won't be sorry.

A
Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
A
funny, sad, and pathetic book all rolled into one. Sad, because you
wonder how much of the work is autobiographical. The story though is
delicious. Worth checking out.

Rude
Astronauts by Allen Steele
Now
this one was a nice surprise. You really can't judge a book by its cover.
This is collection of short stories, that are tied together. A very
pleasant surprise.

The
Dragon Knight Series by Gordon R. Dickson
High
marks for this series. Eight books in, and I really enjoyed them all.
Some of the books were better than others, but very solid entertainment.

Marriage
of the Living Dark by David Wingrove
The
final book in the Chung Kuo series. One of the finest series of books
I've ever read. I really enjoyed this book, but found that it really
didn't match the intensity and complexity of the previous works. As
the series progressed it did get a bit out there are times, and this
book spends a lot of time way out there. Still, it was a very
good book.

Black
Sunday by Thomas Harris
Coming
in at number six, was the old Thomas Harris novel Black Sunday. Bang.
Good book.

The
Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony
This
series is really pretty good, and moved along through Death, Time, War
etc. A couple of the books were outstanding, and the with the exception
of the final book, which was crap, I found them all to be thought provoking
and immensely entertaining.

2001
and 2010 by Arthur C. Clarke
 Pretty
much everyone has heard of HAL, and 2001. I'd never read the book
though. So I picked it up along with 2010 and was blown away. Oddly
enough, I enjoyed 2010 more than it's acclaimed predesessor. 2061,
and 3001 well, that's another story . . .

Wizard
and Glass by Stephen King
Returning
to the world of Roland the Gunslinger, King again treats the reader
to a thick meaty adventure.

Ronan's
Rescue and Ronan's Revenge by James Bibby
 Writing
humorous fantasy isn't as easy as it seems. Somebody once said dying
is easy, comedy is tough. If you tell somebody that a book is
going to be funny, it better be funny. For what ever reason the Ronan
books by Bibby really struck me as pretty funny stuff. I was surprised
when he made my own top 10 list. Gee.
